The μ-Slide III 3D Perfusion is an array of 6 wells where cells can be cultivated and, subsequently, investigated with microscopical methods. Two of the 6 wells respectively are connected by a channel. The channels can be connected to ibidi Pump System for perfusing the wells in order to perform long term cell culture assays with 3D structures.

Application Examples Using the µ-Slide 3D Perfusion: (i) 3D Matrix Culture: Single cells can be cultured and imaged in a 3D matrix, e.g., a collagen gel; (ii) Soft Matrix Culture: Adherent cells can be cultured and imaged on a soft matrix; (iii) Spheroid Culture: Spheroids can be cultured and imaged, e.g., in a gel sandwich; (iv) Tissue Sample Culture: Tissue samples can be cultured and imaged, e.g., in a gel sandwich; (v) Culture Without Matrix: Adherent cells can be seeded directly on the substrate without any matrix.

This is an Islet of Langerhans, which contains the hormone-producing cells of the pancreas, cultured in the µ-Slide III 3D Perfusion. Cells were stained for insulin (cyan) to detect the beta cells of the islet, and for Somatostatin receptor 3 (SSTR3) to visualize the cilia of the islet (magenta).
